Here's another storyline for ya: In a world still reeling from a global pandemic, a rags-to-riches corporate executive must confront their reckless decisions or succumb to ruin. Twist—the protagonist is actually a member of a secret supernatural security bureau. So who the reckless corporate executive actually is, is up for question.

This one's quirky too: A gang of complete strangers must stay in touch with their loved ones by video chat, phone call, or text while beta testing a cutting-edge mode of deep-sea travel when things go

haywire. Twist—the loved ones they've been communicating with are, in fact, mega-advanced AI programs that bear their uncanny resemblance. So who or what's really being tested?

Welcome to the world of SpecFic.

Each of these plotlines have several things in common. Earth is the plot's primary setting rather than some far away galaxy or magical realm. While the story may involve human adjacent themes, the plot revolves around human characters and human society rather than magical, technological, or alien ones. And they juxtapose metaphysical, mythological, or supernatural elements against realistic situations, tensions, or conflicts.

For these reasons SpecFic isn't an umbrella for fantasy or sci-fi narratives. It's a distinct genre itself. And it's so much more. SpecFic is my bread 'n butter. My cookies and cream. My sweet potato pie a la mode.
